See a person clearly

I’ve never had the obsession with proving my “true self”. To letting the world see me as I truly am. I don’t expect that sharing all that I was, am, and hope to be, would be enough for others to break past the illusion of my words and actions, my history and obsessions.

Omniscience isn’t enough power dear God, dear mortals, for even when given the past, thoughts and every action of characters in books and movies, people argue on their true values, argue about their true thoughts, even when those thoughts are presented to them — plainly.

A door is just a door, except when it’s not, and a person is a person, until they’re another. Nobody likes a stray detail, an unwelcome additional fact that changes every perception and action you’ve known that person to have taken, but we must be ready to retcon, everything we know, in order to see a person clearly…or as as clearly as we can hope to manage.
